Kelly Boone, LMFT
Kelly Boone (she/her/hers) is a 2016 graduate of the Appalachian State Marriage & Family Therapy master's degree program and founder of Boone Family Therapy. She has lived in the mountains of NC since 2001, and when not at work she is usually with her husband and sons, tending to their old home forever in need of renovations, or enjoying the beautiful outdoor spaces of the High Country. She is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of North Carolina and a professional EMDR practitioner, certified through the EMDR International Association.
As a therapist, Kelly is dedicated to creating a safe space for all of her clients to explore themselves and their lives. She strives to combine her clinical knowledge and experience with her clients’ wisdom and perspective to facilitate effective change. She recognizes the courage needed to reach out for help and offers her deep respect to her clients in their efforts to confront the challenges of their lives.

Tessa Koeval, LMFT
Tessa Koeval (she/her/hers) received her master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy at Appalachian State University in 2022 and is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT). Tessa lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains with her husband, where they enjoy hiking, backpacking, and exploring the High Country together.
As a therapist, she works to join with her clients and journey alongside them as they move towards their personal and/or relational goals. She is passionate about working with a wide range of clients (individuals, couples, families, etc.) on a variety of presenting issues from depression, anxiety, bipolar, and grief, to couple, relational, family, and life-phase difficulties. Instead of just surviving, she wants her clients to feel they are living their lives and experiencing their relationships to their fullest.

Susan Blevins, MSW, LCSW, LCAS
With 20+ years of experience in the mental health and substance use fields, Susan offers a compassionate, experiential approach to therapy that helps clients connect more deeply with themselves and find effective ways to navigate life’s challenges. She specializes in working with adults facing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, addictive behaviors, and body image concerns. Susan is an LGBTQ+ informed and affirming therapist and welcomes clients from all backgrounds.
Susan is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful modality for addressing trauma and its lasting impact. Emily Cheek, LMFTA, MMT, MT-BC
Emily Cheek (she/her/hers) received her master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy at Appalachian State University in 2024 and is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA). She lives in Boone with her fiancé and enjoys hiking, playing music, and exploring new local spots.
As a therapist, Emily focuses on building relationships and creating non-judgmental, supportive environments for her clients, in the belief that we are way more than just our problems. Clinical interests include life transitions, couples therapy, grief, chronic illness, anxiety, and depression. She is passionate about incorporating queer theory and critical race theory to create a welcoming space for all individuals.
Additionally, Emily has been a board-certified music therapist for the past three years, working with diverse populations such as mental health, NICU, and the App State clinic.

Amy DeCamp, LCMHCA
Amy (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA). She is a graduate of Appalachian State University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program with a graduate certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy.
Amy supports her clients through a person-centered approach, providing a warm and nonjudgmental space to explore their experiences, uncover patterns, and cultivate clarity and self-acceptance. She also integrates expressive arts therapy techniques, including visual art, movement, mindfulness, and nature-based or body-integrated approaches, when clinically appropriate.
Drawing on both professional expertise and personal experience, Amy understands the vulnerability of letting someone into the healing process. She is deeply committed to honoring each client’s unique way of being in the world, walking alongside them as they reconnect with their inner wisdom, create meaningful change, and build resilience.

Anna Koonts MSW, LCSWA
Anna Koonts is a 2024 graduate from Appalachian State University’s Master of Social Work Program (MSW). When she is not at the office, she is most likely reading a good book for self-care, enjoying the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains with her husband, or playing with her three cats.
As a therapist, Anna is passionate about working with children and adolescents to provide support through all phases of life. Anna believes in a preventative approach, utilizing psychoeducation and social emotional learning to assist children and adolescents in learning to communicate their emotional needs and build secure interpersonal relationships in social, school, and home settings. Anna does not believe clients need to be “fixed”, but rather supported as they build their authentic selves.
Anna uses evidence-based modalities including Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and some play therapy techniques to support clients as they navigate feelings of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions. Anna is a LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and is supportive of all identities who seek a safe space through Boone Family Therapy.

Hope Jofray, Clinical Intern
Hope (she/hers) is a graduate student intern pursuing her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Appalachian State University, with an expected graduation in 2026. She received her Bachelor's in Human Development and Family Sciences from Florida State University in 2023, which provided her with a strong foundation in human behavior, interpersonal relationships, and family dynamics.
Hope maintains an open mind regarding client concerns, but has a particular interest in working with couples. She believes in meeting clients where they are and offering compassionate and intentional care while maintaining authenticity in her therapeutic approach.
